Frequently Asked Questions

A: Federation Children childcare operating hours are:

– Newtown 6.30am – 6.30pm
– North Geelong 6.30am – 6.00pm

A: All children’s home routines are followed at the centre, as we believe children need to experience consistent routines in order for them to marry up the home and childcare experiences.

A: Simple – ask the staff! There are lots of ways families can contribute to the program. Children and staff appreciate contributions from volunteers who read stories, cook, do art and craft activities etc. It is a great way to see the program during the day instead of at the busy arrival and departure times. It is also interesting to see how your child interacts within the early childhood program and demonstrate newly acquired skills.

A: A meeting can be set up at any time with Operations Manager, Margo. This can be on either a weekday or at the weekend. To be part of the consultation process then joining the parent advisory group, QAC is recommended. The QAC meet to discuss, review and endorse policies.

A: We run a ‘grab a granny or gramps’ program where grandparents come into the centre and do an activity with the children. Examples of activities include reading stories or cooking their traditional national dish. The children love all the grandparents!

A: Our directors will normally take your EFTPOS payment, however outside core hours you may approach the assistant directors for payment.

A: Of course you will. All families can collect printed information if required from the office, statements will be printed and placed here if you don’t have email, as well as other centre information.

A: Because we would like you to see your children’s photos and artwork in full colour, to appreciate their hard work. Please note children’s rooms do email regular emails and correspondence.

If you have further questions please don’t hesitate to speak to any of the staff at the Centres.
